Singapore Layover Airport Map: Changi Terminals

Changi is four passenger terminals and a shopping dome, and the single most consequential thing a transiting passenger gets wrong is which side of passport control they are standing on. This page answers that first and the walking directions second.

Changi in one paragraph

Four terminals, numbered 1 to 4, plus Jewel, which is not a terminal at all. The address is 60 Airport Boulevard, Singapore 819643, about twenty kilometres east of the city centre and thirty minutes by road. Everything is open around the clock, though the Skytrain and the shuttle buses are not.

Airside and landside — the line everything depends on

Airside is everything past security and before immigration: the transit halls, the gates, the gardens, the lounges. You reach it without showing a visa and you can stay there for the length of your connection. Landside is the arrival halls, the check-in rows, the train station and Jewel. Getting there means clearing passport control, and getting back means clearing security again.

Moving between Terminals 1, 2 and 3

The Skytrain links all three, on both the public and the transit sides, and runs from 05:00 to 02:00. Inter-terminal travellators connect the transit halls if you would rather walk. On the public side, a mezzanine link bridge joins Terminals 2 and 3, and Jewel's Level 3 bridge joins Terminal 1 to the other two.

Terminal 4, which is a bus ride

Terminal 4 is separate. There is no Skytrain and no walking route from the transit area; the free shuttle bus is the only way. On the public side you can walk from Terminal 2 via the Changi Airport Connector.

Build that into your margin if you land and depart from different terminals. It is the one transfer at Changi that costs real time.

Jewel, and which terminals reach it

Jewel sits at 78 Airport Boulevard and connects directly into the Terminal 1 arrival hall on Level 1. From Terminals 2 and 3 it is a five to ten minute walk across the Level 3 link bridge. It is landside in every case, so a transit passenger reaches it only by clearing immigration first. The Rain Vortex, forty metres of falling water and the tallest indoor waterfall anywhere, runs 10:00 to 22:00.

Where a tour meets you

Eight of the departures here start at the airport, and the meeting instruction differs by product. One names the arrivals hall itself and asks you to tell the operator which terminal your flight lands at. Two collect from any of the four terminals by car, taking your terminal number at booking. One collects by taxi from arrivals. The rest name a central city address instead, which is a different kind of booking — useful on an overnight stop, useless on a six-hour connection.

Whichever you book, send the flight number. Every operator here uses it to track your inbound, and it is the difference between a delayed arrival being absorbed and being a missed pickup.

Where the lounges are

The Marhaba lounges sit in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 international departures. The Plaza Premium Lounge is in Terminal 1 and the BLOSSOM Lounge is in Terminal 4, sold as three, six or twelve-hour passes. All of them are airside, which is the whole point: a Changi lounge pass is the product for a connection too short to clear immigration.
